Free Mushie Friend Pattern

Thank you for checking out my free pattern! Below you’ll find my first free published pattern, where you can make your own little mushie friend!

This is a beginner/advanced beginner pattern that is no-sew.

Please note that this pattern is for personal use only and you may not alter, copy or sell it. However, you may sell the finished little plushies, and in your item descriptions if you could credit me (@knotsandquacks on most social media!) I would love to see your creations! Tag me so I can see! :)

This little guy is perfect for markets, and I especially like to make key chains. If you’d like to make some different varieties of mushie friends, the full pattern is available to purchase here on my website, or on etsy!

Start with the cap (in red):

R1 - 6sc in MC (6)

R2 - Inc in each st (12)

R3 - Inc in each st (24)

R4 - {3sc, inc} x6 (30)

R5 - In FLO, sc around (30)

R6 - Sl st around (30)

FO and weave in end.

Body (in white)

Attach yarn in the BLs from R5 of the cap.

R1 - In BLO, sc around (30)

R2 - {sc, dec} x10 (20)

R3 - Dec, 8sc, dec, 8sc (18)

R4 - {sc, dec} x6 (12)

Stuff cap

R5 - Sc around (12)

R6 - {sc, inc} x6 (18)

R7 - 5sc, BO, 6sc, BO, 5sc (18)

R8 - Sc around (18)

R9 - 5sc, dec, 5sc, dec, 4sc (16)

Note: Dec sts should line up with BO sts. You may have to adjust where in the row your decs are to line them up with the BO sts.

R10 - 5sc, BO, 5sc, BO, 4sc (16)

Insert safety eyes between R7 and R8 of the body with at least one space between the eyes. (Ignore this if you are embroidering them on!)

R11 - Dec around (8)

FO and sew the last ring closed. Leave a long tail, as I like to use the remainder to embroider the white dots on the cap with it.

And you’re done! Thank you for checking out my little pattern! Go forth and bring an army of little mushie friends into the world!
